Care for elderly and infirm Franciscans: St. Francis tells us that ". . . if any of the brothers shall fall ill, wherever he may be, the other brothers should not leave him behind, but . . . they can entrust that brother to some person capable of taking care of him . . . " This fund is set up so that "capable" people might help us care for our elderly and infirmed brothers. At our provincial infirmary and elsewhere, while shopping for medicine and medical services, we try daily to cut every corner we can to keep up with the costs of hospital care. Our older brothers rely on what we can provide for them and on the generosity of friends and family whom they have served in missions, parishes and other ministries throughout the world.
